2023 afforded me another opportunity to be a part of the Dave Koz & Friends at Sea cruise.
I don’t think I can convey the feeling of taking a drone off and soaring over the crystal blue waters of the Mediterranean, and sweeping over steeples and spires of buildings that have weathered the centuries. But none of that compares to the people. The people…. the artists. Having late-night drinks with literally the world’s best jazz musicians, chatting about our crafts and connecting as artists. Oh, the people… the guests. It’s literally the greatest collection of humans I’ve found. All there, unified by their love of music and seeing the world.
This year, I was joined by my good friend and oustanding cinematographer, Kyle Gentz. We opted to film this year on Canon R6 full-frame mirrorless cameras due to their incredible low-light capabilities and outstanding autofocus. After 3 weeks of putting these cameras through their paces, we sure picked right.
All this footage resulted in a little over 20-minute recap, packed with music and breathtaking views. Working alongside Kyle again was a true treat, and as always when I work with him, there are some techniques he poses that I can learn from.
